Luis Valdez's Corridos was a very interesting combination between the stereotyped Mexican culture with a splash of Anglo colloquial. Even though most of the diction was in Spanish, there was English that was juxtaposed into the performance. But even without the English, I think the performance was strong enough that even someone without any knowledge of Spanish could interpret the ideas behind it. The incest performance was the most powerful to me. Her dances with the devil changed, as la Catina was trapped in her tower. Her first dance with the demon was her avoiding him, he was like the temptation of incest with her father that she refused. The next day as her thirst became worse, she was the one craving the temptation. Dancing before him, displaying her desperation and her will to give in, but now the demon ignored her. Her last dance with the demon was the most powerful. The demon face was stern, and la Catina's dress becomes more tattered. every time she falls, the only thing lft in her dungeon to catch her is death and by the time her father reaches her, it is too late. Her last dance with death is her final.
